Operations Manager (Working Lead)

Knoxville, TN
Full Time
Mid Level
Are you ready to be part of something groundbreaking? At RDI Technologies, we are transforming the way industries see and solve problems with our Motion Amplification® technology. By turning ordinary video into a powerful diagnostic tool, we help companies across manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, R&D, and more detect unseen motion, prevent costly failures, and design better products.

As a small and growing company, we offer an exciting, dynamic workplace where your ideas matter, and your contributions drive real impact. We are looking for an Operations Manager who thrives in a "high-grit" environment, someone who can lead a team and strategize with leadership, but who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty on the production floor.

Job Overview
The Operations Manager is a critical, high-impact role. You will be responsible for the daily management and execution of RDI’s end-to-end Operations and Customer Support functions. This is a Working Lead position: you will manage a tight-knit, cross-functional team while serving as a primary technical resource for troubleshooting, assembly, and quality assurance. This individual must possess leadership skills to mentor staff and the technical aptitude to personally certify camera and system production.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
1. Team Leadership & Tactical Management
  • Direct Supervision: Lead and mentor our Knoxville-based operations team across Test & Assembly, Customer Support, Purchasing, and Administration.
  • "Working Lead" Mentality: Lead by example. You are an integral member of the team, ready to step into the assembly process, assist with support escalations, or help the team meet shipping deadlines during peak volume.
  • Cross-Training: Build a resilient operation by ensuring team members are cross-trained across different functions to eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Leadership Partnership: Collaborate directly with the leadership team to drive process improvements, report on key metrics, and ensure operational alignment with company goals.
2. Manufacturing, Quality & Troubleshooting
  • Production Oversight: Manage the end-to-end manufacturing process, ensuring units move efficiently from component arrival to final shipment.
  • Technical Escalation: Serve as the primary technical expert on the production floor. You will personally engage in complex assembly and testing to ensure every camera meets our rigorous standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Own the Quality Management System (QMS). Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Quality Control Test Procedures (QCTPs) to ensure 100% yield and reliability.
  • Vendor Relations: Act as the technical point of contact for key suppliers, resolving quality control challenges at the source.
3. Logistics, Fulfillment & Systems
  • Systems Mastery: Drive the daily use and optimization of NetSuite (ERP) and Salesforce (CRM) to maintain accurate inventory and streamlined order fulfillment.
  • Global Logistics: Oversee domestic and international shipping, ensuring all documentation and "Dangerous Goods"(batteries) protocols are strictly followed.
  • Inventory Control: Work closely with Purchasing to monitor material flow and prevent stockouts of critical components.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 5–10 years of experience in a high-tech manufacturing, assembly, or engineering environment. Previous experience in a small-to-medium business (SMB) or a "working lead "role is highly preferred.
  • Technical Acumen: Deep, functional knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly. You must be comfortable using hand tools, multimeters, and diagnostic software.
  • Systems Literacy: Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and CRM tools. You should be comfortable pulling data to identify costs and throughput trends.
  • The "Grit" Factor: A proven track record of "wearing many hats" and doing whatever is necessary to get the job done.
Required Training (Provided by RDI)
  • Must become IRIS-M/MA SUITE certified within the first quarter of hire.
  • HazMat/Dangerous Goods training must be completed within 45 days of hire.
